Thailand cancels mandatory tests and quarantine for foreign tourists from May 1

The new entry rules for vaccinated travelers introduced by the Thai authorities are as follows:

Fully vaccinated foreign tourists are no longer required to present negative pre-PCR test results at the border. Moreover, their testing upon arrival is also abolished.

It is still necessary to register on the official website to obtain a permit to enter Thailand, a certificate of vaccination and medical insurance in the amount of at least USD 10,000 (previously it was USD 20,000).

Upon arrival in Thailand and passing the border, vaccinated tourists can immediately travel freely anywhere in the kingdom.

New entry rules for unvaccinated travelers:

Unvaccinated and not fully vaccinated foreigners are also more are not required to present the results of preliminary PCR tests and undergo any tests upon arrival.

They must register on the official website to obtain permission to enter Thailand, book a hotel for 5 days and purchase an insurance policy in the amount of at least 10,000 US dollars.

Upon arrival in Thailand, the unvaccinated are subject to mandatory quarantine for 5 days, after which — PCR test (on the 5th day).

True, there is one exception: if a foreigner can upload a confirmation of a negative PCR test done within no more than 72 hours before the trip , through the Thailand Pass system, he is equated to fully vaccinated, and gets the opportunity to freely move around the territory of the kingdom. 

While in Thailand, both vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists are advised to strictly observe health and safety standards. Travelers experiencing symptoms similar to COVID-19 should be tested immediately. If the test is positive, the patient will be handed over to doctors and sent for appropriate treatment.
