It doesn't get any easier from hour to hour… This is how I would describe the weather in the Mediterranean Sea of Turkey at the end of July 2022. But, sadly, everything is just beginning …
August is traditionally the hottest month in Turkey, and this year we are generally promised that the heat will not be simple, but abnormal ! I don't even know what we'll be doing in August, if neither the sea, nor the water parks, nor the pools in the hotels bring much relief now.
Either the sea or the mall
Those who are now resting in Turkey on their own do not have much choice of entertainment. In fact, now in Antalya you can feel comfortable either by immersing yourself in the gentle sea up to your eyebrows, or by completely surrendering to shopping in large air-conditioned shopping centers.
But both take a lot of energy. And after the shopping center, and after the beach, you want to lie down under the air conditioner and not move until the morning. The sea is very exhausting!
Hotels are hard too)
Just yesterday, I went with my parents for a day at a cool five-star hotel to show them exemplary Turkish all-inclusive service, as well as numerous hotel entertainment, in including a water park, hammam, relaxation in a cabana with a personal waiter, etc., but due to the heat, it did not work out much.
There is no appetite at all in such weather. We had a good breakfast, then skipped lunch and somehow forced ourselves to go to dinner at an a la carte restaurant … But food is almost the most important entertainment in such expensive hotels. But at +40 there is no desire at all. Even squid, shrimp, sushi, not to mention meat.
In general, we had a good time, but in the evening we were very tired and overheated.
As a result, they agreed that they would never go to Turkey for a vacation in the summer. July and August are the two most unsuitable months for a holiday in Turkey, but they are always the busiest. Hotels are now packed! And there are a lot of Russian tourists.
You need to leave Turkey in August!
Husband is now trying to prepare for the trail in Cappadocia (runs 38 km), but the conditions for training in Antalya – hellish. In the evening, when he goes for a run, the air temperature drops only to +34, and at night to +31.
And in general We don't go anywhere during the day anymore. We sit at home and the air conditioner runs. It will be interesting to look at our next electricity bill…
So next year, we are planning to spend all of August somewhere in outside of Turkey. Ideally – in Altai. In the summer in Russia, there is simply no better place to relax.
Have you ever had a vacation in Turkey at the end of July or in August? How did you relax in such conditions?
