United Airlines has changed the rules for refunding economy class tickets

United Airlines has changed its economy class refund policy

The new rules, which came into effect last week, will allow passengers who have booked the cheapest economy class tickets at the Basic fare to either upgrade to a standard economy class ticket or cancel it for money. “Basic” Economy class tickets are usually not only cheaper, but have a lot of restrictions regarding changes and cancellations.

Representatives of the airline say that United has made it much easier for customers to book economy class tickets. Passengers now have a choice: “Either pay to upgrade to a Standard Economy Class ticket, which allows them to reschedule their flight and get all the benefits of the Standard fare, including premium class benefits, free seat selection, free hand luggage and more.” another, or if the client does not want to rebook and make changes, he can cancel his trip and return part of the money.

Clients who decide to cancel the “basic economy” will receive a discount on the flight in the amount of the cost of their ticket minus commission. On domestic flights, the fee is $49.50 for one-way tickets and $99 for round-trip tickets, on international — $99.50 for one-way tickets and $199 for two-way tickets.

Similarly, Delta Air Lines allows passengers to cancel the “basic” economy class ticket for a fee ranging from $99 to $199. And JetBlue allows you to cancel the “basic” Blue tickets purchased after June 8, 2021 for a $100 fee if traveling within the US, Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America, or a $200 fee on all other routes.
